I’ve been reading a book for class called “The Fault in our Stars” by John Green. There’s a quote that goes like this:
“Some people don’t understand the promises they’re making when they make them,” I said.
“Right, of course. But you keep the promise anyway. That’s what love is. Love is keeping the promise anyway.”
I agree. But with hesitation. That’s not all that love is. Love is also allowing someone the freedom to break that promise if that’s what will make them happy or whole.
And as cliche as this is, love really cannot be selfish. If you don’t believe the person you’re with deserves you, maybe they really don’t. No one will ever say that to you though. You must be fair when in love.
But I think above all, love is pushing through the hard times. It’s sticking around when it would be easier to walk away. It’s hard work. But I truly believe that it’s all worth it in the end.
“”Cause we are stronger here together than we could ever be alone.”
